The purpose of this dissertation is to discover how the correct photographic trans representation can impact the way transgender people view themselves as well as others in their community. There has been a selection of harmful representations of transgender people in the media (Siebler 2012) which can affect how trans people view themselves. But I want to explore how trans representation that is accurate and truthful to trans people
impacts how they see themselves and how it affects how they choose to present themselves. by looking at theorists and philosophers such as Scruton (1981) and Brook (1983), I am going to determine whether photography can be a representational art form. In addition to this, I am going to view a collection of interviews from trans people (provided by Jess T. Dugan) about their trans journey and see if there is any correlation surrounding peoples
journey and whether accurate trans photography could have supported them with their journey.
