Unravelling the roots of far-right populism in Europe: economic insecurity, social identity, and nationalism in contemporary politics

Over the last decade, the emergence of far-right populist movements in Europe has had a considerable impact on election results. This dissertation aims to examine the factors contributing to the rise of right-movements in Europe, with a particular focus on Italy, France, and Spain. This research is based on a comprehensive literature review and case study approach, using secondary sources such as academic journals, news articles, and reports. The findings reveal that the rise of right-wing populism is driven by a complex interplay of social, political, and economic factors. The impact of far-right populism is multifaceted, affecting the political landscape, economic and foreign policy, and trust in the European Union and its institutions.
