This research is a study of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children ranging in age from infancy to pre-adolescence, with the aim of assessing and comprehending the application and efficacy of music-based therapy. This paper will adopt the perspective of a professional Music Therapist and will use the research gathered to build a list of approaches that would be suggested to a prospective client and those that would not be recommended. As well as personal opinions, previously developed case studies were used to classify widely used interventions and recognise the expectations for performance of Music Therapists in both client and community environments. To get a better understanding of what a child with ASD goes through on a daily basis, evidence was sourced from books, scholarly blogs, clinical reports, and validated websites. To gain more understanding, research into related case studies was performed, such as delving into clinical trials and studies that investigate the use of different interventions and treatment types and learn more about the neurological impact of music therapy for children.
