Nutrition is widely know to influence physical health. However, the field of psychiatric nutrition also researches how nutrition can affect mental health. There already is research on how food can have an impact on mental health diseases, such as depression. However, not much research has been done on the influence of diet on positive aspects of mental health, such as eudaimonic and hedonic well-being. Mindful eating also has an impact on mental health, but similarly eudaimonic and hedonic well-being have not been studied in that context yet. This study aims to investigate the relationship between healthy eating, mindful eating and depression, eudaiminic and hedonic well-being. Results indicated that mindful eating might play a role in decreasing mental ill-being and that healthy eating might have a positive effect on eudaimonic well-being.
